For 14 years,  Schall served as Chairman

of the Arts Department of St. Augustine

School of the Arts in the heart of the

South Bronx,  one of the poorest

neighbohoods in the nation.

 

Leonard Bernstein and Wynton Marsalis were

among the distinguished members of the

Advisory Board for this school which came to

national attention as a model for the

integration of the arts and academics.  

 

As an advocate for Arts Education, Schall

was featured on CBS Sixty Minutes,  and in

the PBS Documentary Something Within Me,

winner of four Sundance Film Festival Awards. 

 
 

As Director of Performing Arts in

Lawrence, New York,  Schall has been

acknowledged for "building bridges"

and creating "harmony" in one of the  

most culturally diverse school communities

in New York State.
